April 5– Palm Sunday
On Palm Sunday, our children will process into the sanctuary carrying their palm branches. Following worship we will enjoy our annual Palm Sunday luncheon with an Easter egg hunt for the children
April 5 – 11 – Mid day Holy Week
The Mid day Holy Week services are sponsored by the Nacogdoches Minister Fellowship and are held at noon at First United Methodist Church . A $6.00 lunch is served following worship, and hopefully everyone can be back at work by 1:00 pm .
April 9 ( 7:30 PM ) – Maundy Thursday Communion Service .
Please do not miss the Maundy Thursday worship this year, for during the service our choir will be leading us in worship using the Faure Requiem . Following the requiem, we will celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Maundy comes from the Old French word mande which is from the Latin word for commandment. It is the first word in the saying of Jesus, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you (John 13:34 ).” You may remember that Jesus said this shortly after His time with the disciples in the upper room where He washed the disciples' feet and instituted the sacrament of the Lord's Supper
April 10 ( 7:30 PM ) – Service of Tenebrae
Tenebrae comes from the Latin for darkness of shadows. The Service of Tenebrae is an ancient service that centers upon the seven last words of Jesus from the Cross. As each word is read, the sanctuary grows darker. This is an opportunity to not only deepen your realization of the cross, but those who come will testify that attending this service will make the Easter celebration all the more joyful.
EASTER – April 12
As in the past, we will have two identical worship services on Easter morning. The first one will begin at 9:00 AM and the second will begin at 11:00 AM .
