Homebound Communion Service (Ordained Elder)

The communion elements that are served on Communion Sunday during the worship service are extended to those isolated from the community's worship. To serve the elements one must be an ordained officer of the church. If you know of someone who is a shut-in or unable to attend worship service because of an illness or other circumstance please contact the church office. Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.

Greeters

Greeters volunteer each Sunday to greet members and visitors as they arrive at the church. They also help our visitors with any questions they may have and point them in the right direction if they need to locate a Sunday School room, nursery, restrooms, or the sanctuary. Training is provided.

Ushers

Ushers are members of the church who volunteer on Sunday mornings to greet worshipers; pass out church bulletins; seat worshipers; and take up the offering.

Acolytes

Special Giving Programs

Wills
Several years ago Westminster Presbyterian Church made a commitment to mission giving. As part of this commitment 20% of our operating income is designated for mission. Our current practice is that 10% of our operating income goes to the mission work of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and 10% is used on local mission.

Our goal is to grow to the point where the church is giving fifty percent of our total income to mission. We understand it will be difficult to achieve this goal using the regular contributions from our members and friends thus we have placed an emphasis on wills and planned giving.

Using a will a person can continue to honor Jesus Christ with their estate, and these gifts can be used for years to come by the church in a variety of ways. A gift made through a will does not have to be designated for the mission work of the church, but can be designated to be used in a variety of ways.

Below is a list of Special Funds we have at Westminster where one may consider giving to through their will.

Mission Fund
The Mission Fund is used by the Session to fund mission opportunities. In the past money from the Mission Fund has been given to local mission organizations such as LOVE INC; Habitat for Humanity and Project Hope. The fund has been used to support short term mission trips by members of our church. Since the fund is administered by the Session there are a number of creative ways these monies can be used to honor Jesus Christ by helping people in need.

Building Fund
Westminster Presbyterian Church worships in a building that is approaching 75 years old, and as with any older building there is a lot of maintenance and care that is needed. Occasionally, as our program dictates there may be a need for remodeling, and as attendance grows in worship there may be a need for future expansion. The Building Fund is thus an excellent way to assist the church as it builds for the future.

Special Music Fund
Westminster Presbyterian Church places an emphasis on good music. There are always anthems to be purchased, training for our music leaders, and the need to hire musicians to assist us in our worship.

Musical Instrument (Hand bell) Fund
When you enter our sanctuary one is immediately struck with our organ and the wonderful music it creates during worship. Our organ needs maintenance as well as the possibility of adding to its colors. Our hand bell choir is always seeking more bells to increase the possibilities of the music they can use. And our piano needs an occasional tuning.
