Worship at Westminster Presbyterian Church

We strive to have our worship praise the Lord Jesus and minster to all of our congregation. We are proud of our music program--our wonderful choir and organist, our children's and youth choirs and our hand bell choir. As always, you are very welcome to visit and join our worship. We have listed some information about our worship services below.

If you have other concerns or questions, please call the church office at 936-564-0203 or contact us.

Worship and Children

It is important that our children understand they are included in our worship, yet we understand that it may be difficult for children to listen to a 20 minute sermon preached on an adult level. For this reason we have a special time for young disciples during our worship experience. We want parents to feel welcome to bring their children to worship, and if their children are loud and disruptive; we understand that we are simply hearing the voices of the future of the church.

Time for Young Disciples and Nursery

We have two nurseries available for young children. One is for children up to three years old. The second nursery is for children who have not entered the first grade. This second nursery for older children is staffed by volunteers and is opened following the Time for Young Disciples which is part of our morning worship. Following the Time for Young Disciples the church sings a hymn which gives time for parents to take their children to the nursery.

Communion and Children

From time to time, either in Sunday School or during children's choir practice our pastor will teach a short unit on the Lord's Supper to our children. We understand that our children will not completely understand the meaning of the Lord's Supper; however, as baptized members of the church they are eligible to receive the sacrament.

At Westminster we leave it to the parent's discretion as to when is the best time for their children to start receiving the sacrament. However, we discourage your child from receiving communion until they have received some instruction from our pastor who is willing to visit in your home to speak with your child about the sacrament.
